Hello!
I got a p-day earlier than expected which is quite exciting here in the Brazil MTC because that means I get to walk around São Paulo! In fact, once I finish my 45 minutes for email, my companions and I get to leave the bubble! Did I mention I'm in a tripanionship? It's pretty rad. Elder Richardson and I picked up a new companion on the way to Brazil. His name is Elder Durden from Montana! Anywho, life is great here in Brazil. I'm still taking it all in because it's so different, but it is so amazing!
The past few days have been normal MTC life except with incredibly delicious Brazilian food, and less than half the people speak English. The food is incredible. They always have a meat dish, usually two, and of course, rice and beans. The only dessert that I have seen is jello which as odd as that may sound, tends to be really quite good. The fruits taste very different from their american counterparts but most of the time, that's a good thing. There is a soft drink down here that every missionary raves about called Guarana. I guess I haven't caught the Guarana craze yet. For breakfast, we eat ham and cheese sandwiches everyday, and if you are in the mood for something exotic, they also serve cream soup (I think it's just warm milk).
I still don't understand the Brazilians when they speak Portuguese yet, but I can still communicate with them, they just have to repeat themselves a couple times. Going to the temple today was pretty interesting with my limited language skills. Oh, did I mention we went to Campinas temple today?! It was so awesome! And big too!
The weather here is very pleasant. Just hot enough to make you appreciate air conditioning (when it works), but not too hot. Sadly, it's the absolute deepest part of winter here so who knows what summer will be like.
It's so great being here and being a part of God's army. This experience has been so valuable to me thus far, and I can't wait to see what the next two years has in store for me! I know that my redeemer lives. The tomb is empty. God has called prophets to bring Christ's gospel to the world. The Book of Mormon is the word of God. God has happiness in store for us that we can't even fathom, and it's not far away in some lofty afterlife. We can be happier now through repentance and obedience to commandments. I know that this is true.
Thank you all so much for your help in getting me to where I am in my life! I love each and every one of you!
