Good morning!
I'm not too sure what all to include in these short e-mails so I would like to solicit [email protected].
Next Tuesday, I'll be leaving at the crack of dawn to catch a plane to Brasilia and officially start my mission! The MTC has been a priceless experience for me in my growth. A good word to describe it would be, intense! God has provided for me in all of my stewardships here, and I can't wait to see how he will use me when that stewardship becomes the people of my area!
This past week at the MTC, a devotional was recorded that will ultimately be broadcasted to all missions, stakes, and wards in Brazil. The area general authorities, Elder Adukaitis, Elder Mazegarde, and Elder Costa all gave incredible talks about the great work of missionaries! All english-speaking elders were given headphones and a couple minutes in, I took them off and realized, I didn't need them! By the grace of God, I understood all that was being said! It was awesome! Speaking intelligibly however, is a whole other story. We sang “Called to Serve” in the big assembly with all 200ish MTC missionaries and all of the missionaries serving São Paulo west. The event totally made up for never getting to sing “Called to Serve” in Provo or see any general authorities.
Last pDay I got a Brazilian hot dog, called the "egg dog master." It was sublime. Two hot dogs, potato crisps, melted cheese, corn, bacon, egg, special sauce and who knows what else? I also ate brazilian Acaí ice cream which everyone raved about, but I have to say I’ll take the Egg Dog Master any day. It was the bee´s knees.
I just got back from going to the temple for the last time for two years! Sadly, my mission doesn't have a temple that I will be able to visit. Luckily, the Lord blessed me with a little bit of extra spiritual nourishment today to hold me over ;) The temple is truly a marvelous and holy place in which eternally pertinent ordinances are performed!
So many mind-blowing things happen here. You never get time to savor any of it! God lives. He is our father. He loves and has a plan for his children to receive the gifts that have already been prepared for us. The fulness of Christ's gospel in on the earth today in preparation for his second coming. You only have as much agency as you think you have. Choose this day to have faith by acting on the hope that He lives. I testify that He does.
Love,
Elder George
