This past week was really intense. A lot of crazy things happened! This week's focus was follow-up with and support our progressing investigators. One of which, completely gave up cigarettes and coffee so that she could be baptized!
As we were leaving from her baptismal interview the day before her baptism, one of her sons who lives in the area, entered her house and told us, "our gospel isn't allowed in this house" and began to tell a bunch of lies about the Book of Mormon and the church. Her other neighbor, who moved in that day, also came over (as if they had schemed the whole thing together) and added to the clamor, talking about how missionaries persuade and force people to believe things that aren't true. Forcing us to leave the house, they succeeded at planting enough doubts in our investigator's mind that now she avoids us and going to church.
Our other two baptism fell through also, because they had to leave the city the day before to attend to a sick relative. It's cool though, because they're still going to be baptized, I'm just not going to get to be there... because... I was transferred!
Yup! Last night at nine o'clock, I got a call telling me to pack my bags and be at the chapel in South Brasilia at 9 am. There, I got reassigned to serve in São Sebastião! My new companion is Elder Trivino from Ecuador. It's going to his last transfer in the mission! The plan is to make it his best! The area is really cool! I'm no longer in the state of Goias. I am in the Federal District (equivalent of Washington D.C.). It's in the Brasilia Zone which means that every Tuesday, we will take the bus across that famous, iconic bridge thing to attend zone and district meetings! The church here is the upstairs of a department store and the baptismal font is a kiddie pool. Time to fill that crowded space up with investigators!
