Well my week was wonderful. We were blessed to have the baptism of a wonderful family. Cristine (Mom), Isaias (Son), Izadora (niece), Isaias (nephew). They moved here recently from a small town in the north of Brazil and without a job or any connections, Cristine decided to take a free craft-making course in the community. The coordinator of the course, a wonderful sister of the church, decided she would take them under her wing trying to help them with jobs and with other aspects of their arrival in the city. A few weeks later, after a good number of lonely dirt road walks to the church, fervent prayers, and a lot of cevada (coffee that's not made from the coffee bean), they are baptized, working, and immensely happy for having moved to the city.
Cristine had recently lost her husband in accident but against the odds, kept her firm conviction that God was engineering her life for the ultimate better. Shortly thereafter, came to know the restored gospel and its peace bringing truths about our life here on earth.
I love being a missionary. I'll sure be sad to leave my mission, but happy to know that greater things are ahead for those who seek to be obedient. I know Christ lives, and I deeply desire that all might experiment just a little bit more on that hope, venturing to pray about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, and putting into practice its teachings.
Love,
Elder George
